Mauritius; contender for best all year-around destination?

Mauritius, an island nation castaway 1,200 miles off the coast of Madagascar on the east coast of Africa is a nation of enterprise and looking forward. It has a tropical climate with high temperatures throughout the year. As with most tropical destinations there are both dry and rainy seasons, although even during the wetter months of June to September, there are usually plenty of hot perfect sunny days. Air Mauritius now offers daily flights from London Gatwick whilst there are other direct flights from London with British Airways and indirect via Dubai with Emirates.

For nature lovers, the island is landscaped with verdant trails and with pirouetting birds – from limegreen Echo Parakeets to teal-capped Mascarene Paradise Flycatchers. It may not have the private island feel of the Maldives or the tropical jungle of the Seychelles, but it offers faultless service, plenty of adventure and activities including golf, hiking and biking.

Whilst we work with a number of luxury hotels and resorts on the island, we are particularly delighted to be working with Heritage Le Telfair, located in the Bel Ombre region and an affiliate member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Heritage Le Telfair is a beguiling blend of luxury, intimacy and elegant architecture exuding the ambiance of grand tradition properties for a stay tailored around fine dining, personalised service, exclusive spa facilities and access to two multi award golf courses including La Reserve Golf Links, the first and only contemporary links course in the Indian Ocean. Named after famous Irish naturalist, Charles Telfair, who lived in the area in the 19th century, the hotel basks in the history of Mauritius and the Bel Ombre region showcasing the rich heritage of our island.

Below are some of the many resort highlights:

      • Access to the famous C-Beach Club: brunches, events and special evenings

      • Complimentary Baby Club for toddlers under 3 years of age

      • Bel Ombre Nature Reserve: Safari 4×4 / Quad / Buggy Discovery Trails, Picnics, Sunset Safari Tour, Walking Trails

      • Unique in Mauritius: World of Seashells museum

      • A choice of 13 restaurants across the Domaine with different gourmet experiences , including monthly culinary events with Michelin Star chefs and wine makers; perfect for Corinium foodies.
